Reason for Emergency Maintenance: Planet has been notified by our third-party datacentre provider of a newly identified critical security vulnerability affecting the current software version of key network infrastructure within our UK datacentre.
The equipment vendor has issued a security advisory recommending urgent remediation through a software upgrade to address the identified vulnerability.
Given the severity of the vulnerability and the potential security exposure associated with delaying remediation, this activity has been classified as emergency maintenance and will be undertaken overnight on 9 to 10 October 2026.
We apologise for the short notice. However, this work is being prioritised to protect the security and resilience of the infrastructure supporting our services.
Maintenance Window and Expected Impact:
Maintenance Date: Overnight, 9 to 10 October 2026 Maintenance Window: 03:30 AM to 04:30 AM UK time (BST) on 10 October 2026
Expected Service Impact Window: 04:00 AM to 04:30 AM UK time (BST) Expected Service Disruption: Up to 10 minutes in total
The maintenance will involve upgrading network infrastructure and performing controlled failovers between network components.
During the anticipated 30-minute impact window, two brief network failovers are expected. These may result in temporary interruptions to connectivity or service availability across the affected systems.
The combined service interruption is expected to be no more than 10 minutes, rather than a continuous outage throughout the 30-minute impact window.
Services are expected to remain available outside these brief interruptions.
Planet’s Infrastructure, Application Operations and Incident Management teams will actively monitor the maintenance, coordinate with our third-party datacentre provider and validate service availability following each network transition.
Rollback and Service Recovery: Recovery and rollback procedures form part of the maintenance implementation plan.
Should unexpected issues arise, our technical teams will work directly with the third-party datacentre provider to assess the impact, implement appropriate recovery measures and restore affected services as quickly as possible.
Additional Information: We recognise the inconvenience that emergency maintenance and short-notice service interruptions can cause.
However, given the critical nature of the identified vulnerability, completing this preventative security upgrade promptly is necessary to maintain the security and resilience of our infrastructure.
We apologise for any disruption and appreciate your understanding.
